Landscaping Expertise = Fewer Breeding Sites

Mosquitoes breed in leaf axils, pot plates, blocked drains, and ornamental ponds — all common in landscaped environments. Our combined landscaping and pest control teams identify and eliminate these sites that a standard pest controller would miss. Source reduction is the primary strategy recommended by NEA’s own Code of Practice.

NEA-Licensed & Fully Documented

All work is carried out by NEA-licensed Vector Control Technicians. We provide full service documentation including treatment records, insecticide batch details, and NEA-compliant service reports. Mandatory 24-hour advance notice given before all thermal fogging, in compliance with NEA’s Code of Practice.

NEA Code of Practice Compliant
🌱

Low-Chemical-First Approach

NEA’s Code of Practice states that fogging must not be relied upon as the main control method — excessive fogging accelerates insecticide resistance. Green Garden prioritises BTI-based larviciding (non-toxic to humans, pets, and aquatic life), ULV cold misting over thermal fogging where possible, and physical source reduction first.

INTEGRATED MOSQUITO CONTROL PROGRAMME

01

Source Reduction

All work is carried out by NEA-licensed Vector Control Technicians. We provide full service documentation including treatment records, insecticide batch details, and NEA-compliant service reports. Mandatory 24-hour advance notice given before all thermal fogging, in compliance with NEA’s Code of Practice.

Primary Strategy

02

Larviciding

Application of Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (BTI) — naturally occurring, non-toxic to humans, pets, and aquatic life — and temephos dunks in breeding habitats. Recommended twice weekly to break the 5–7 day breeding cycle before larvae become adults.

Twice-Weekly Recommended

03

Thermal Fogging

Heat-vaporised insecticide to eliminate adult mosquitoes in outdoor areas. Applied only when elevated adult activity is confirmed, per NEA’s Code of Practice. Residents notified at least 24 hours in advance. Effective immediately; short-acting (hours, not days).

On-Demand Treatment

04

ULV Cold Misting

Ultra-low volume compression produces a fine residual mist with lower chemical volumes than thermal fogging. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, creates a longer-lasting barrier on vegetation and surfaces. Lower impact on pollinators versus thermal fogging.

Indoor & Outdoor

05

Monitoring & Ovitrap

Gravitrap- and ovitrap-style monitoring to track Aedes population levels and identify hotspot areas. Data-driven scheduling ensures you’re not over-fogging (which accelerates resistance) or under-treating high-risk zones.

Data-Driven Scheduling

06

Drain & Water Feature Management

Green Garden’s landscaping and drains maintenance teams regularly clear blocked drains, apply larvicide to ponds and ornamental water features, and maintain drainage grading to eliminate standing water. Unique — unavailable from standard pest control providers.

OUR PROCESS

How Our Mosquito Control Programme Works

A structured, NEA-compliant five-step process from initial site assessment to ongoing population monitoring.

1

Site Inspection

Licensed VCT conducts a full site walk identifying all breeding habitats, hotspot zones, and property-specific risk factors.

2

Source Reduction

Physical elimination of stagnant water — clearing drains, emptying containers, treating pot plates, covering gully traps.

3

Larviciding

BTI and/or temephos applied to all remaining water bodies. Twice weekly recommended to break the 5–7 day cycle.

4

Adulticide (if required)

Thermal fogging or ULV misting deployed only when confirmed adult activity warrants it — NEA Code compliant.

5

Report & Monitor

NEA-compliant service report issued. Monitoring traps checked to track trends and schedule next treatment.

Singapore Regulatory Context

NEA Licensing & Singapore's Mosquito Control Regulations

All professional mosquito control in Singapore must comply with the Control of Vectors and Pesticides Act. Understanding the national framework helps you make informed decisions about your property’s programme.

Project Wolbachia — NEA's National Suppression Programme

Since 2016, NEA’s Project Wolbachia has released male Aedes aegypti mosquitoes carrying Wolbachia bacteria to suppress the Aedes population. Mating between Wolbachia males and wild females results in non-viable eggs — no biting, no disease transmission from these males.

As of October 2024, Project Wolbachia covers 35% of all Singapore households. NEA field studies recorded up to 77% reduced dengue risk for residents in release zones with at least one year of releases.

However, Project Wolbachia is a supplementary strategy — professional source reduction and larviciding remain your primary protection, especially for commercial, industrial, and private properties outside NEA’s residential release zones.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions — Mosquito Control Singapore

How much does mosquito control cost in Singapore?

Mosquito control pricing depends on property size and treatment type. A one-time residential fogging treatment typically starts from $80–$150. Recurring programmes for commercial and landscaped properties are quoted after a free site assessment — costs vary based on area, frequency, and treatment methods. Contact Green Garden for a no-obligation quote.

Because the full mosquito life cycle — egg to adult — takes just 5–7 days in Singapore’s climate, a larviciding programme carried out twice weekly is recommended to break the breeding cycle. Fogging frequency depends on confirmed adult mosquito activity levels. NEA’s Code of Practice states fogging should not be the primary control method and should only be used when elevated adult activity is confirmed.

When conducted by NEA-licensed technicians using approved insecticides, mosquito fogging is safe. Residents, children, pets, and the elderly should vacate during treatment and return only after 30–60 minutes of ventilation. Green Garden uses water-based and low-toxicity formulations wherever possible, and prefers ULV cold misting for environments with vulnerable occupants.

Thermal fogging uses heat to vaporise insecticide into a dense visible cloud — best for treating large open outdoor areas rapidly. Effects typically last a few hours. ULV (ultra-low volume) cold misting uses air compression to produce a fine residual mist that settles on surfaces and vegetation, providing longer-lasting protection with significantly lower insecticide volumes. ULV is also usable indoors and has less impact on pollinators like bees and butterflies.

Yes. Under Singapore’s Control of Vectors and Pesticides Act, all mosquito control treatments must be carried out by a licensed Vector Control Operator (VCO) and their licensed Vector Control Technicians (VCT). A licensed VCT must be present during all chemical applications. Using an unlicensed provider is illegal and may expose you to regulatory liability. Green Garden holds all required NEA licences.

Gardens, planters, roof gardens, green walls, and ornamental water features create multiple mosquito breeding opportunities that a standard pest controller may not identify. Leaf axils on tropical plants, blocked drainage in planters, pot saucers, and water features can all harbour stagnant water where Aedes mosquitoes breed. As an integrated landscaping and facilities management company, Green Garden’s teams understand these environments and perform source reduction that directly addresses them — making our mosquito programmes significantly more effective for properties with active landscaping.
